By James Dines, editor, The Dines Letter Stocks:
Since 1961, June has been a down
month for the DJI nearly twice the time, with 27 downs and 14
gainers. Note that ten of those fourteen exceptions took place
in the bullish '80s and '90s, which are behind us, and so the
traditional June negativity should reassert. May Tops typically
transit through June, usually evolving into the traditional "Summer
Rally" in July or August. Spring declines often climax in
June, while July or August rebounds introduce more-positive seasonal
markets. It is no surprise then that June ranks as the fourth-worst
month for the Dow during the last 52 years. |
